Thank you for taking the time to check out our website!
Sister team and co-founders of Haunted History BC, Gina Armstrong & Victoria Vancek, blend their passion for the paranormal with a deep interest in history. Residing in the lower mainland of British Columbia, the spooky sisters began their haunted adventures in 2017.
Recently there has been a growing fascination in the paranormal, and after participating in a few ghostly walks, historical tours and visiting several museums, Gina and Victoria’s childhood interest in all things ghostly was rekindled. Always curious to learn more about various haunted places, they began exploring locations on their own—those well-known and many that haven’t been previously explored. After several personal unexplainable encounters, they became hooked!
The local authors and historians travel across BC and often collaborate with heritage sites, residents, and other paranormal enthusiasts to gather and document stories and evidence. Their unique approach not only entertains but also educates, making them a distinctive presence in the field of paranormal investigation and historical research.
Gina and Victoria bring innovation and creativity to their work and in 2021 they published the first Canadian paranormal magazine, the award-winning Evenings & Avenues—Hauntings in the Outskirts. They continue to co-author the book series which explores ghosts, cryptids, haunted objects, UFO sightings, local folklore, and includes metaphysical and parapsychological topics. William, the team’s resident skeptic and debunker, also makes sure they get to their locations safely.
While old buildings, historic locations and cemeteries are ripe with stories of spooky spirits, intertwined with all the mystery, is the actual history. Gina and Victoria believe that not only is our tangible history important, but intangible history in the form of local ghost stories is a valuable cultural asset. As paranormal researchers, their goal isn’t to prove or disprove the existence of anything supernatural, but instead, they want to share their appreciation for all places eerie, beautiful and old. The sisters enjoy investigating hauntings, shadow people, Sasquatch, and various myths and legends in a continued effort to record their findings for future generations.
All places have a story to tell and echoes from the past reveal each community’s uniquely rich history. Gina and Victoria feel compelled to delve into lesser-known stories, urban legends and folklore, ultimately sharing their experiences with you. Haunted History BC is the first to offer a variety of haunted walking tours in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, as well as taking their lectures and captivating immersive events across BC. Their work has been acknowledged through various awards, highlighting their history preservation efforts.
So, are ghosts real? Well, it depends on who you ask. Ghost stories are folklore at its finest. And whether you believe in ghosts or not, ghosts have an interesting role in our culture in that they are well-believed and well-discussed.
If you’re a paranormal enthusiast or consider yourself a history lover, we hope you enjoy the site, photos, and recent projects. Never before have people recorded so many ghostly encounters, thanks in part to our cell phone cameras and microphones. And let’s face it, there’s nothing like experiencing ghosts—when you hear strange voices, see moving objects, witness balls or wisps of light or even catch a glimpse of a translucent person!
Grab your flashlights and together we’ll dare to wander down the dimly lit corridors of haunted history!
